All the things that you mentioned that are good about buddhism can be directly applied to Christianity.

That is the miracle of our creation, and another example of the infinite love God has for us. He gave us this world, this beautiful, perfectly tailored world. He didnt add stipends onto the agreement, he gave it to us condition free. We have a choice. We can chose to look after it or not. We can chose to have material possessions or not.

Material possessions are not bad. That basically covers all. It covers computers, alcohol etc etc. Jesus did not want us to live like that. He understands that we are human, and its not the material goods themselves that are "sinful" its the way in which they can be exploited/abused.

Take for example his first miracle when he was on this earth. The wedding at Cana. The parties ran out of wine. In those times, it was a most embarrasing affair and would not reflect well on anyone. But lets face it, they obviously had had a huge amount to drink to have drunk it all lol. Did Jesus turn funny and start spouting of morals? No. He realised that as humans we have to enjoy ourselves to fufil ourselves. Thus he turned water into wine, and quite a large quantity at that.

What is wrong with wanting stuff? I agree that it can get out of hand, and as a Christian, I hope I do my part in helping less fortunate people than myself out. Buddhism, while a nice idealogy, is grossly impractical for the human race. While it may suit a particular sort of person, I belive that it can be restricting and ultimatly unfufilling. If you actually look at the restrictions that religions put on its adherents, Christianity is remarkably laid back. The few rules we have are indisputably for our own and societies good.

And lets not forget forgivness. The thing that is so pure and indescribly......lol cant describe it.

It is a beautiful thing forgiveness. Now THAT can change the world, instead of giving up material goods. To be able to say "I forgive you" , to follow the bible in "turning the other cheek". Think of all that can be accomplished with that statement. The absolute divine forgivness.

And yes, meekness does reward you, both on this life and the next. People respect the kind of devotion and power that forgiveness brings. People remember and cherish you. You set an example, an example that can snowball.

Consider Islams reward, and what has to be done. Their "god" demands Justice, he demands retribution and above all, the mandate for Islam is "conversion". A muslim is guranteed a place in heaven for conversion or for dying in the attempt. THATS why we have such fanactism, and THATS why Islam is so dangerous. How can you compromise with someone who honestly believes that converting/killing you will get him into heaven.

meh I dont hold any of my words to bear. Im a young dude who still hasnt got a complete understanding as of yet. But I can guarantee you that the journey is one WELL worth taking. It inspires morals, is incredibly rewarding etc. Yet none of these should persuade you. You should not need persuading. You should experience Jesus in your heart, and the moment of realisation (can be a variety of things) is enough to make your heart feel as if it will explode. We all have different ways of experiencing Jesus, but no matter what religion you are, know that God loves you beyond our mortal comprehension. So when you are in dire need or at any time, please explore the issue within your heart.

Cheers.
