Text Effect: Text on Glass Reflection - 04-17-2009, 10:39 PM

Step-By-Step:

1. Open a new document in Photoshop. Make canvas size large enough to hold your text.
2. Select the Type tool and type out your text.

3. Create a new layer below the Type layer.
4. Select the Rectangular Marquee tool. Select the bottom half of your canvas.

5. Select the Gradient tool.
6. Open the Gradient Editor and create a grey to white gradient.

7. With the Gradient tool, hold down the shift key. Click and drag your gradient cursor from the bottom to the top of the selection area.
8. You should now have your new gradient representing the glass floor.

9. Create a duplicate layer of the Text. Name the duplicate layer "Reflection".
10. Hit CTRL + T to enter Tranform mode.
11. In the Menu Bar, type in -100% in the H: box.

12. The image will flip upside down. Hit Enter key to accept the tranform change.

13. Click and drag the "Reflection" layer text down to create the reflection. You should now have something similar to the image below:

14. Click the "Add Vector Mask" button to add a vector mask to the Reflection layer.
15. Make sure the the Reflection layer Vector Mask is selected.

16. Select the Gradient tool.
17. Open the Gradient Editor and choose a black to white gradient.

18. Click and drag the Gradient cursor from the bottom to the top of the reflected text.

19. The gradient will fade out the reflected text and give the impression of text on glass.
