alright. im kicked out of my house and my grandma has a computer but it wont boot. its saying that theres a file that is missing or corrupt. press r to repair. i dont have to reboot discs for this computer anymore. what should i do. if someone can please help me. my grandmas house is so boring you dont even know. i got about 80 gigs of new movies on my external that i cant watch because her computer aint workin. also when i get the computer back in working order. i dont want any of that AOL, and all that bullshit that comes with the new computers. i just want a BARE comoputer with the all the windows shit and thats it. if someone can help me you would be the greatest person in the world. and if you live in the chicago area. i will smoke a blunt with you or fuckin knock back some brews on me!!!!!!!
prolly not much you can do withouth the disc, I would recomment downloading another copy of widows on another computer and just doing a fresh install if there's nothing needed to be kept on granny's comp, if there is get one of the emergence boot discs and get what you want first, and depending on spec xp may be a better option imo.
If you notice any of my links are dead CLICK HERE to PM me and I will try to re-up when I can
not necessarily true....if he knows the file, he can possibly dl a copy or copy it from another pc...and use a floppy or usb drive and paste it into the proper directory...i've done that before....
okay i reinstalled windows, then when i boot up, the resolution is all wacked out. it will only let me choose 4bit, i am not to good with the technical shit like this, i just download programs, movies, and music. i have no knowledge on this kind of shit and would LOVE to learn more.
now you need to update all your drivers...go to windows update and you can update most through that.
if you want company specific drivers, then you need to know what video card it has. if you dont know off hand.
click the start button, then right click my computer, then click properties, then on the window that comes up, click the plus button by the display driver and it should tell you what video card you have.
but since you said your not to techy, then i would suggest the easiest route and use windows update. which can also be found in the start button, if your using windows xp then click the start button then accessories i do believe. Sometimes its also under all programs, once you open all programs look at the top and it should say windows update...and just follow the prompts from there.
